─ RIVERSDAL MEDIESE PRAKTISYNS ─

Last updated: 24 July 2026

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions govern your access to and use of the Riversdal Mediese Praktisyns website.

By accessing or using the website, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. Should you disagree with them, you should discontinue use of the website.

2. Website operator

The website is operated by:

Riversdal Mediese Praktisyns
73 Church Street
Riversdale
Western Cape
6670

Bookings and general enquiries: 028 713 2500
After-hours emergency number: 072 055 5733
Email: gpriversdal@gmail.com

3. Purpose of the website

The website provides general information about:

  • the Practice;
  • its practitioners and team;
  • medical and allied healthcare services;
  • operating hours;
  • appointment and contact information; and
  • general health-related matters.

The website is intended for general informational and administrative purposes only.

4. No medical advice

Information published on the website does not constitute:

  • medical advice;
  • a diagnosis;
  • a treatment recommendation;
  • a prescription;
  • an emergency assessment; or
  • a substitute for consultation with a qualified healthcare practitioner.

Medical information must be considered in the context of an individual patient’s symptoms, medical history, examination and clinical circumstances.

You should not delay seeking professional medical care because of information appearing on the website.

5. No automatic doctor-patient relationship

Accessing the website, reading website content, submitting a contact form or sending an email does not by itself create a doctor-patient relationship.

A professional healthcare relationship is established only when a practitioner accepts a patient for consultation or treatment in accordance with the Practice’s procedures and applicable professional obligations.

6. Emergencies

The website contact form and ordinary email must not be used for medical emergencies.

The Practice lists an after-hours emergency number:

072 055 5733

This number is intended for contacting the Practice regarding after-hours medical assistance. It must not be treated as a replacement for ambulance services, hospital emergency departments or other emergency services.

For a life-threatening or serious emergency, contact the appropriate emergency service or proceed to the nearest emergency department without delay.

The Practice cannot guarantee that website forms, email messages or social-media messages will be monitored or answered immediately.

7. Appointments

Appointments may be requested by contacting the Practice on:

028 713 2500

An appointment is only confirmed once the Practice has expressly confirmed the date and time.

Submitting a website enquiry or leaving a voicemail does not constitute a confirmed appointment.

Patients should provide accurate contact information so that the Practice can communicate appointment confirmations or changes.

8. Late arrival, cancellation and missed appointments

Patients should notify the Practice as soon as reasonably possible when they cannot attend an appointment.

Late arrival may result in:

  • a shortened consultation;
  • a delayed consultation; or
  • rescheduling where the practitioner cannot safely or reasonably accommodate the patient.

Any cancellation or non-attendance charges will only apply where they have been properly communicated by the Practice and are permitted under applicable law.

9. Consultations and clinical decisions

All consultations, tests, procedures, prescriptions and treatments are subject to:

  • practitioner availability;
  • clinical assessment;
  • informed consent;
  • medical appropriateness;
  • available facilities and resources; and
  • applicable professional standards.

The availability of a service on the website does not guarantee that the service will be clinically suitable for every patient.

A practitioner may recommend referral to another healthcare provider, hospital or emergency facility where appropriate.

10. After-hours consultations

After-hours consultations may be subject to:

  • practitioner availability;
  • prior telephone contact;
  • clinical urgency;
  • additional consultation fees; and
  • the Practice’s after-hours procedures.

Patients should call 072 055 5733 before attending an after-hours consultation unless otherwise instructed.

11. Fees and payment

Patients are responsible for confirming:

  • consultation fees;
  • procedure or test fees;
  • payment methods;
  • medical-scheme coverage;
  • benefit limits;
  • authorisation requirements; and
  • any amount payable directly by the patient.

Medical-scheme membership does not guarantee payment by the medical scheme.

Unless the Practice has expressly agreed otherwise, the patient or the person responsible for the patient’s account remains responsible for payment of all amounts not paid by a medical scheme or another third party.

12. Medical-scheme claims

Where the Practice assists with submitting a medical-scheme claim, this does not guarantee that the claim will be accepted or paid.

Claim approval remains subject to:

  • the patient’s medical-scheme rules;
  • available benefits;
  • waiting periods;
  • exclusions;
  • authorisations; and
  • the medical scheme’s assessment.

Patients remain responsible for verifying their benefits and settling any unpaid balance.

13. Prescriptions, certificates and reports

Prescriptions, repeat prescriptions, medical certificates, referrals and reports may only be issued where:

  • clinically appropriate;
  • permitted by law;
  • consistent with professional obligations; and
  • supported by sufficient patient information or consultation.

Submitting a request does not guarantee that a practitioner will issue the requested document or medication.

14. Accuracy of information

We endeavour to keep website information accurate and current. However:

  • medical information may change;
  • services may be added, changed or withdrawn;
  • operating hours may change;
  • practitioners may be unavailable;
  • website content may contain an error or omission; and
  • information may not apply to every individual.

Users should confirm important information directly with the Practice.

15. User responsibilities

When using the website, you agree to:

  • provide accurate information;
  • avoid impersonating another person;
  • avoid submitting unlawful, abusive or misleading content;
  • avoid uploading malicious code;
  • avoid attempting to gain unauthorised access to the website or its systems;
  • avoid interfering with the website’s operation; and
  • use the website only for lawful purposes.

Where you submit information on behalf of another person, you confirm that you have authority to do so.

By communicating with the Practice electronically, you acknowledge that:

  • delivery may be delayed or unsuccessful;
  • messages may be intercepted or accessed without authority;
  • technical problems may occur; and
  • urgent matters should be communicated telephonically.

The Practice may communicate by telephone, email, SMS or another agreed channel for appointment and administrative purposes.

18. Third-party links

The website may contain links to:

  • social-media platforms;

  • external healthcare providers; or
  • other third-party websites.

These links are provided for convenience. The Practice does not control and is not responsible for independent third-party websites, their content, availability, security or privacy practices.

A link does not necessarily constitute an endorsement.

19. Website availability

We do not guarantee that the website will always be:

  • available;
  • uninterrupted;
  • error-free;
  • free from harmful code; or
  • compatible with every device or browser.

We may suspend, modify or discontinue any portion of the website without prior notice where reasonably necessary.

20. Website security

Users are responsible for maintaining appropriate security on their devices and internet connections.

You must not attempt to:

  • access restricted areas;
  • test or circumvent security controls;
  • introduce viruses or malicious software;
  • overload the website; or
  • interfere with any server, network or database connected to the website.

21. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Riversdal Mediese Praktisyns and its practitioners, employees and service providers will not be liable for loss arising solely from:

  • reliance on general website information instead of obtaining medical advice;
  • a failure to seek urgent or appropriate medical attention;
  • interrupted website access;
  • delayed or failed electronic communications;
  • unauthorised third-party access beyond reasonable control;
  • third-party websites or services; or
  • use of the website in breach of these Terms.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion is prohibited by law.

Nothing in these Terms limits any non-excludable rights available under the Consumer Protection Act or other applicable legislation. The Consumer Protection Act establishes consumer-protection standards for products and services in South Africa.

22. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify the Practice against losses, damages or expenses arising from:

  • your unlawful use of the website;
  • information you submit without authority;
  • your infringement of another person’s rights; or
  • your material breach of these Terms.

This provision does not apply where the loss was caused by the Practice’s unlawful conduct, gross negligence or other conduct for which liability cannot legally be excluded.

23. Privacy

Personal information submitted through the website or collected by the Practice will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy and applicable law.

24. Applicable law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

Subject to any mandatory consumer-protection or statutory dispute-resolution rights, disputes will fall within the jurisdiction of the competent South African courts.

Electronic communications and transactions in South Africa are regulated, where applicable, by the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002.

25. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time.

The updated version will become effective when published on the website, unless a later date is stated.

Continued use of the website after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

26. Severability

Should any provision of these Terms be found invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be treated as severable.

The remaining provisions will continue to apply.

27. Entire agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any specific written terms provided for a service, constitute the agreement governing use of the website.

Clinical treatment remains subject to separate patient-consent processes, professional duties and applicable healthcare law.
